We’ve rounded up three easy recipes that are healthy and dog-friendly to help you prepare for your pup’s special day.

Recipe 1 – Dog Cake for Meat Lovers

If your dog goes crazy for meat, this doggo delicious mini meatloaf from Personal Creations will get chowed down in seconds.

It’s easy to prepare, uses only healthy, dog-friendly ingredients, and can be frozen in case you have leftovers.

Here’s how to prepare it:

1. Preheat your oven to 350℉ (177℃).
2. Chop and boil the potatoes for 15–20 minutes until they’re soft.
3. In a bowl, mix the lean ground meat, oats, shredded carrots, peas, and beaten eggs.
4. Grease your baking tin with coconut oil.
5. Add the meaty mixture.
6. Bake for about 35 minutes, until the meat is cooked. The mixture should be dry and the meat evenly browned.
7. For the frosting, blend the boiled potatoes and add water until you achieve a smooth texture. 
8. Let the cake cool before spreading the potato frosting over it with a small spatula.
9. Crown the iced cake with hand-placed peas or carrots for a super-festive look. You can also substitute these toppings with your dog’s favorite vegetables, such as boiled sweetcorn or blueberries.

Cooking tips: Fats are not good for your dog’s digestion system. To ensure that your mutt enjoys his birthday cake without having to deal with an upset stomach, use:

• Lean ground beef—contains less than 10% fat, unlike regular ground beef which has 30% fat.
• Coconut oil—it’s healthy, allergen-free, improves digestion, and dogs love the smell.

Recipe 2 – Dog Cake for the Pumpkin-Loving Pooch

For the pumpkin cake:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177℃).
2. In a bowl, thoroughly whisk the dry ingredients—flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
3. In a separate bowl, use a hand mixer to combine the pumpkin purée, peanut butter, applesauce, honey, and eggs.
4. Set the hand mixer to low before gradually adding the dry flour mixture. The low setting prevents splattering and ensures that the heavy batter blends evenly.
5. Uniformly grease your baking tins before adding the batter. To prevent the cake from overflowing, the batter should not fill more than 2/3 of the tin.
6. Bake for about 40 minutes.
7. Once done, place the pan on a cooling rack and let the cake cool for 10 minutes. Don’t let it sit for too long in the pan as it may get soggy edges.
8. Transfer the cake from the pan directly to the rack to allow air to circulate all around and cool it completely.

For the frosting:

9. Beat heavy whipping cream in a mixing bowl until it forms soft peaks that can easily be blended with the peanut butter..

Recipe 3 – Grain-Free Dog Cake for Sensitive Stomachs

If your dog is grain-intolerant and can’t have wheat or rice cakes, you can still make them a tummy-friendly, grain-free birthday treat with this recipe from A Cozy Kitchen.

You’ll love that the grain-free recipe is easy to follow and that the cake will be ready in less than thirty minutes.

It calls for a standard half-sheet pan (13 x 18 inches), which should yield about four mini-layer cakes.

To prepare the cake, you’ll need:

For the grain-free cake:

1. Preheat the oven to 325℉ (163 ℃).
2. Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper, then lightly brush the paper and the sheet’s sides with coconut oil. The paper ensures the cakes bake evenly and prevents them from sticking to the pan.

   Tip: If you don’t have parchment paper, you can substitute it with aluminum foil, silicone baking mats, or grease the pan.

3. Combine the chickpea flour with baking soda in a large mixing bowl.
4. In a separate bowl, mix the peanut butter, honey, eggs, and water. Make sure you stir the peanut butter first so that any oil that has settled on top can seep back in.
5. Gradually blend the wet ingredients into the flour mixture in the large bowl.
6. Gently fold the shredded apples into the mix.
7. Pour and uniformly spread your batter on the baking sheet.
8. Bake for about 15 minutes. Leave the cake to cool.

When the cake is done, it should feel pillowy and spring back if you gently press the middle with a finger. You can also prick it with a toothpick and check for any streaks of raw batter.

For the frosting and toppings:

9. In a mixing bowl, beat together the Greek yogurt and honey until you get a thick frosting.
10. Toast your plain shredded coconut in a small skillet. To ensure even toasting, spread the coconut out evenly and constantly stir over medium-low heat until it turns a light golden brown.
